C-sections are not that bad!

You may be planning a natural birth but may run into complications, or you may be told that you must have a c-section, or you have simply decided that a c-section is best for you.
While I think it would be wonderful to have a natural birth, I have had 3 c-sections due to unusual circumstances.
My husband and I went through the natural childbirth courses provided by the local hospital twice. We were so excited, but from fairly early my first baby was breech. The doctor tried to turn it late in my pregnancy, but his fingernails were so long, I think I still have the scars. I told him to stop. It was hurting too much.
Once I resigned to the fact that I was destined for a c-section, I enjoyed the entire experience.
The only drug I could be given was morphine, which later made me itchy, but I felt no pain during the extraction.
I was aware of the entire experience and my husband was present. He cut the cord and helped to some extent.
Afterwards, I was sleepy, but it didn't take long before I could move around, and even walk to the toilet. The pain wasn't that bad and it was over quicker than expected.
The second and third babies were c-sections too. They seemed much easier than the first, even though with my third, I had to spend three weeks in hospital beforehand due to my baby laying sideways and leaving a big void full of fluid where its head should have been.
I lived in a ward with other women who were having c-sections for the first time. I tried to explain that the experience isn't that bad. As I watched them come and go, some thanked me for the comforting words and agreed with me.
I will go into this more in my next post.
